Rumors have swirled as of late regarding the possibility of the UFC 134 weigh-ins taking place under an open sky on Copacabana Beach. While the promotion nixed that possibility, fans will receive a consolation prize at the open workouts on Aug.24, as several main card competitors will showcase their skills on the shoreline.
“It’s an opportunity for those who didn't buy tickets to see a little bit of the spectacle,” said De Mello, who did not reveal the kickoff time for Wednesday's proceedings.
Also known as UFC “Rio,” the event goes down Saturday, Aug. 27, from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Gates will open at 4 p.m. (ET). The prelims are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. (ET), while the main card begins at 9 p.m. (ET), airing live on pay-per-view in the United States.
