Jose Aldo has one more reason to defend his Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight crown against Anthony Pettis this summer.
Anchored at the revered Nova Uniao camp, Aldo will carry a 15-fight winning streak into his next appearance. The 26-year-old last appeared at UFC 156 in February, when he took a unanimous decision from Frankie Edgar at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. A frightening striker who also holds the rank of black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Aldo has delivered 15 of his 22 professional victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.
Pettis has established himself as one of MMA’s most dynamic fighters. The 26-year-old Milwaukee native last fought at UFC on Fox 6 in January, when he cut down Donald Cerrone with a first-round liver kick at the United Center in Chicago. A protégé of former world kickboxing champion Duke Roufus, Pettis has won seven of his last eight bouts.
