Chuck Liddell never lacked confidence.
“I think I would have been a horrible matchup for him,” Liddell said. “I would have walked through his punches, and he wouldn’t have caught me with anything.”
Jones shredded Liddell’s longtime training partner Glover Teixeira with a series of standing elbows, as he successfully defending the light heavyweight crown for a record seventh time with a one-sided unanimous decision over the Brazilian in the UFC 172 main event on April 26. “Bones” has rattled off 11 straight victories since his December 2009 encounter with Matt Hamill ended in disqualification.
Liddell, 44, retired in 2010 following consecutive knockout losses to Rashad Evans, Mauricio Rua and Rich Franklin. He remains one of MMA’s most beloved figures.
