Three Title Fights Announced for Glory 66 Paris
Kickboxing promotion Glory announced today that its June 22 card,
Glory 66 Paris, will offer three world championship fights.
Fighting in the main event slot will be current welterweight champion Cedric "The Best" Doumbe (72-6-1, 42 KOs) against the number one contender Alim "The Professor" Nabiyev (51-7, 21 KOs). Doumbe, a Paris native, is also a two-time welterweight champion, winning his first belt at Glory 36, and after a loss, regaining his title at Glory 64.
For Doumbe, this fight is not only a chance to defend his belt but
to also avenge a loss. The Frenchman suffered a split decision loss
to the Azerbaijan fighter Nabiyev at Glory 51 in March 2018.
Co-headlining the Paris card will be Siberian light heavyweight champion Artem Vakhitov (20-5, 8 KOs) against Donegi "The Silverback" Abena (24-5, 6 KOs). Riding a six-fight win streak, Russia's Vakhitov holds the honor of being Glory's most dominant light heavyweight champion.
For its third title bout of the card, Glory has booked super-bantamweight champion Anissa Meksen (98-4, 31 KOs) to face this Friday's Glory 65 Utrecht winner. Her June 22 opponent will either be Sweden's Sofia "The Wolf" Olofsson or the UK's Christi "The Blonde Boom" Brereton. Meksen's future challengers are ranked three and four respectively. Meksen, who joined Glory in July 2017, most notably defeated American Tiffany Van Soest in a championship bout only five months after joining the kickboxing league.
The Zenith Paris in Paris, France will play host to Glory 66 Paris on June 22.
