This Day in MMA History: Sept. 30

On Sept. 30, 2010, at WEC 51, Jose Aldo defended his World Extreme Cagefighting featherweight title for the final time. It was also the last time the Brazilian fought for the promotion.

In his next fight, he would fight inside the Octagon at UFC 129 to defend the UFC featherweight title. At WEC 51, though, Aldo put on a spectacular performance as he knocked out Manny Gamburyan.

The card also saw Donald Cerrone beat Jamie Varner by decision, George Roop knock out Chan Sung Jung, Mark Hominick edge out a decision over Leonard Garcia and Mike Brown TKO Cole Province. Meanwhile, opening up the card at bantamweight was Demetrious Johnson, who defeated Nick Pace by decision.
