On Sept. 3, 2016, the Ultimate Fighting Championship went to Hamburg, Germany, for the first time in company history, marking the promotion’s fifth appearance in the country.

In the main event, Josh Barnett submitted Andrei Arlovski by rear-naked choke in the third round. The co-main event saw Alexander Gustafsson beat Jan Blachowicz by decision, which lead the Swede to headline his next fight against Glover Teixeira in his home city of Stockholm. Also featured was Ryan Bader knocking out Ilir Latifi, in what was his second to last bout in the Octagon before heading to Bellator MMA.

The card is also significant for another reason. It featured the debut of Jack Hermansson, who is now set to headline at UFC Copenhagen later this month.

UFC Fight Night 93 had an attendance of 11,763 for the promotion’s first and only time visiting Hamburg. Advertisement
