This Day in MMA History: Sept. 29



On Sept. 29, 2007, Strikeforce held a unique event: An invitation-only event at the Playboy Mansion for which spectators had to pay $1000 per ticket. The main event saw Gilbert Melendez beat Tetsuji Kato by decision. The win improved Melendez’s record to 13-0.

Strikeforce: Playboy Mansion also saw Joe Riggs knock out Eugene Jackson and Josh Thomson TKO Adam Lynn. Other notable names on the card were Jorge Masvidal, who TKO’d Matt Lee, and Dewey Cooper, who beat Adam Smith by decision.
