On Oct. 13, 2012, the Octagon touched down in Rio de Janeiro for UFC 153. In the main event, the then-reigning middleweight champion Anderson Silva moved up to light heavyweight to take on Stephan Bonnar. There, it was Silva who got the job done as he TKO’d Bonnar in the first round.

The card also featured several other Brazilians getting the job done as Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira submitted Dave Herman and Demian Maia submitted Rick Story. The main card also included Glover Teixeira TKO’ing Fabio Maldonado, Jon Fitch edging out a decision over Erick Silva and Phil Davis submitting Wagner Prado.

In other action on the card, UFC 153 also saw Gleison Tibau beat Francis Trinaldo, Diego Brandao take a decision win over Joey Gambino and Sergio Moraes submit Renee Forte.

The pay-per-view event had a 410,000 buyrate with 16,844 people in attendance.
