Spike TV will air “UFC Prelims Live” specials prior to the
pay-per-view broadcasts of UFC
130 and UFC
131, Sherdog.com has confirmed with an industry source.
News of the specials was first reported Wednesday by MMAJunkie.com. No fights have been selected for either of the one-hour broadcasts.
Highlighted by the third confrontation between UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and challenger Gray Maynard, UFC 130 will emanate from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 28. UFC 131 will go down the following month, when “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 13 coaches Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos lock horns on June 11 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The two broadcasts represent the fourth and fifth of 12 scheduled specials in 2011. The most recent “Prelims Live” aired prior to the UFC 128 pay-per-view on March 19 and netted 1.3 million viewers.
