ShoBox: The New Generation will unleash another quadrupleheader of
boxing action as the long-running Showtime-televised series returns
Sept. 23. Light heavyweight contenders Radivoje Kalajdzic and
Travis Peterkin will square off in the main event, which goes down
inside Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Okla.
The action will commence on Showtime beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, with the eight featured fighters sporting an impressive combined record of 114-3-1 with 78 knockouts.
Kalajdzic (21-1, 14 KOs) is coming off the first loss of his
career, a disputed decision to 2012 Olympian Marcus Brown in April.
The Bosnian is aiming to get back in the win column against
Peterkin and continue his ascent up the 175-pound ladder.
“I am really excited about this fight and that I am on television again fighting another undefeated southpaw,” said Kalajdzic. “I am continuing where I left off with training camp from my previous fight since it’s another southpaw, so I will be more than prepared. Hopefully, Peterkin comes to fight and not hug like my last opponent did so we can give the fans a good fight.”
While he is undefeated, Peterkin (16-0-1, 7 KOs) is coming off his first pro fight in which he didn’t have his hand raised in victory. The Brooklynite fought to a draw with 2008 Olympian Lenin Castillo in August. He said he knows what to expect from his foe.
“I was ringside at Hot Rod’s last fight. I respect him, but I saw what his flaws are and will exploit them,” said Peterkin. “I am anticipating a war. Brooklyn is coming to Oklahoma and I will not disappoint. On Sept. 23, greatness beckons.”
The co-featured bout will be a super lightweight showdown between Ivan Baranchyk (11-0, 10 KOs) and Wang Zhimin (7-0, 3 KOs) over 10 rounds. Welterweight prospect Ivan Golub (12-0, 10 KOs) will clash with James Stevenson over eight rounds while heavyweight Trey Lippe Morrison (11-0, 11 KOs), the son of late former champ Tommy Morrison, will oppose Ed Latimore (13-0, 7 KOs) over six rounds in the opening bout of the telecast.
