The Manchester Arena in Manchester, England, will be blown sky high when the raucous crowd erupts in excitement Saturday night for one of the most anticipated showdowns in Europe in recent years. And with both popular combatants making weight on Friday, the fight will go on as scheduled.
Frampton (21-0, 14 KOs) strolled onto the scale and nailed it, weighing officially at 121.7 pounds. After he made weight, the Irishman blew a kiss at his foe during the staredown and made it known how he feels about the contest.
“I am better than him,” Frampton stated. “I have the power to knock him out, from the first round to the last round, and I’ve also got the boxing brain to comprehensively beat him on points.”
Quigg (32-0-2, 23 KOs) countered with a terse verbal jab of his own after clocking in at 121.6 pounds.
“I respect him as a fighter,” the Englishman said. “But the best Carl Frampton can’t touch the best Scott Quigg,”
