Golden Boy promotions announced Wednesday afternoon that its first event on ESPN has gotten even deeper. Former IBF bantamweight champion Randy Caballero will take on Jesus Ruiz in the chief support bout of the Golden Boy Promotions on ESPN card which goes down March 23 at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, Calif.

After winning a few regional titles, Caballero (23-0, 14 KOs) snatched up the IBF world bantamweight strap in October 2014 by dominating Stuart Hall in Monaco. “El Matador” won via unanimous decision, but was out of action for nearly 18 months before knocking out Ruben Garcia in February 2016. After another year out of the ring, the Indio native is looking to get back on track.

Ruiz (35-7-5, 25 KOs) also captured a handful of local belts before challenging Leo Santa Cruz for the WBC super bantamweight crown in 2015. The Mexican veteran came up short but has since gone 3-1, with his latest triumph coming last September when he knocked out Roman Melendez.

The main event of the evening will be the middleweight showdown between Jason Quigley (12-0, 10 KOs) and Glen Tapia (23-3, 15 KOs). Opening the telecast will be 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Marlen Esparza making her pro debut against Rachel Sazoff (0-2).

The action will be televised live on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. A full undercard will stream live on ESPN3.
