Premier Boxing Champions will invade the Barclays Center Saturday evening in Brooklyn as an intriguing showdown of two high-level welterweights will highlight the night. NBC will televise the action, which is anchored by the enticing matchup between Errol Spence Jr. and Chris Algieri.
Former world champion Algieri (21-2, 8 KOs), who went the distance with such foes as Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, as well as conquering Ruslan Provodnikov, was the first to hit the scale. The New Yorker officially weighed in at 145.6 pounds, priming him for his 10-round affair. Spence (19-0, 16 KOs) is among the best young lions in the sport and he wasn’t outdone by his foe; the Texan clocked in at 146.4 pounds.
The co-featured bout is a cruiserweight duel between Krzysztof Glowacki as he defends his WBO title against Steve Cunningham. A former two-time IBF cruiserweight champ, Cunningham (28-7-1, 13 KOs) checked in at 199.2 pounds. Glowacki (25-0, 16 KOs), who is coming off a spectacular 11th knockout of Marco Huck in August, weighed 199 pounds.
