PBC on FS1 Weigh-in Results: Sammy Vasquez, Luis Collazo on Weight
Premier Boxing Champions returns to action for a special Thursday
night attraction as young contender Sammy Vasquez will take on Luis
Collazo in the main event. The card will be held at Horseshoe
Casino in Tunica, Miss., with FS1 airing the fistic festivities
beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
Vasquez (21-1, 15 KOs) is looking to bounce back from the first loss of his professional career. After exploding onto the scene with 21 consecutive wins, “The Who Can Mexican” dropped a unanimous decision to Felix Diaz last July. Now on the road to get back into the win column, Vasquez looked terrific at Wednesday’s weigh-ins; he came in at 146.2 pounds.
Collazo (36-7, 19 KOs) will be the most experienced and arguably best opponent Vasquez faced up to this point. A former WBA welterweight champion, Collazo has taken on some of the best in the division throughout the years. He took on Ricky Hatton when the Englishman was still an unbeaten contender and lost his title to him. He’s also fought tooth and nail with Shane Mosley, Andre Berto, Amir Khan and, most recently, Keith Thurman. Looking to bounce back from the loss to Thurman, Collazo was on pint on the scale and weighed in at 145.5 pounds.
Yordenis Ugas (146.8) vs. Levan Ghvamichava (147.2)
Ryan Karl (142.6) vs. Eddie Ramirez (142.2)
