Opinion: New Mexico Commission Does Right Thing

It was a pleasure to see the New Mexico Athletic Commission rule overturn the original split draw verdict in the Chris Camozzi-Joey Villasenor bout at Shark Fights 15 on May 27 at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, N.M., awarding the decision to Camozzi.
The match was initially tabulated as a draw, with judge Mark Sanchez’s scorecard adding up to 29-29. I’m not exactly sure how you err in adding up three rounds in a 10-point must system -- the nines usually stand out visibly, at least on my cards -- but at least the commission is willing to acknowledge a mistake was made and make the right decision.
