UFC welterweight prospect Daniel “Ninja” Roberts has announced that he will next enter the Octagon against Claude Patrick at UFC 129, scheduled to take place on April 30 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. Roberts on Friday revealed the matchup via Twitter. The bout has not yet been confirmed by the UFC.
Patrick, 30, will look to halt Roberts’ momentum with a hometown stand. “The Prince” hails from Toronto and has fought all but two of his 14 professional bouts on Canadian soil. Patrick made his UFC debut in June in Vancouver, where he used his go-to guillotine choke to submit Ricardo Funch. In October, the once-beaten International Fight League veteran took a unanimous decision over “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 9 winner James Wilks at UFC 120.
UFC 129 marks the promotion’s first trip to Toronto, where MMA was legalized in August. The event will be headlined by a five-round welterweight title bout between champion Georges St. Pierre and former Strikeforce titleholder Jake Shields.
