'Mr Wonderful' and 'Big Country' on The JBS
Jordan Breen Aug 5, 2010
I returned to the Sherdog Radio Network Thursday and was joined by
UFC heavyweight contender Roy Nelson
and unbeaten light heavyweight prospect Phil
Davis.
Nelson weighs in on his Saturday night bout with fast-rising Brazilian Junior "Cigano" dos Santos, whom Nelson himself called the best heavyweight in the UFC. "Big Country" explains his high praise for his opponent, his own unique training regimen, and his reliance on his close-knit group of training partners he's dubbed "The Country Club". "Big Country" also talks about his emergence as a fan favorite of the everyman and his love for "normal people".
The colorful Davis discusses his own UFC 117 bout, where he'll meet Rodney Wallace. "Mr. Wonderful" discusses the circumstances that led to his more recent training camp taking place at American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose and which of his fighting personas -- "Phil" or "Dave" -- will show up Saturday night in Oakland. Davis also argues why he feels Cael Sanderson is the best American wrestler of all-time, and talks up his talent in arcade classic "Cruisin' USA."
Also, I break down the weekend of international MMA ahead, including Shooto cards in Brazil and Japan, Pancrase, KOTC, Ultimate Challenge MMA, Ringside MMA and more.
