Lawal: Machida Was Working Game Plan Against Jones, But Gassed
Muhammed
Lawal, on “The Savage
Dog Show,” discussing Lyoto
Machida’s performance against Jon Jones
(Lawal helped Machida train for the bout):
“Everything that I thought Lyoto could do, he did. Granted, some things happened before the fight that I can’t speak of. Only Lyoto could tell you about that, but I think first round, he did a great job. Second round, he was kind of gassed. Everything we worked on, pretty much, in Brazil, [in] the first round he did perfectly. Perfectly. Stopped the takedowns, was getting out of the clinch. Other things that I’m not going to say, but things that we worked on, worked perfectly.”
