Joseph Benavidez, on “Cheap Seats,” discussing the benefit of fighting on the UFC on Fox 7 card alongside teammates T.J. Dillashaw and Chad Mendes:
“Anytime you can go into battle with the guys you’re training with every day, it’s going to be more of a quality camp, I’d say, just because everyone’s kind of peaking. We’re always going to be there for each other, but there’s a 100-percent difference between training for a fight and not. If these guys are fighting, they might say, ‘Hey, I need you for a sparring session,’ and I hop out of my bed at noon and drink some coffee and eat a few donuts and go to practice because T.J. needs me or Chad needs me. There’s just a certain intensity that’s brought to practice every day when everyone’s peaking and has the same goal on the same day.”
