John Nash Joins Press Row

Every Wednesday, Administrative Editor Jordan Breen welcomes a member of the mixed martial arts media into “Press Row” on the Sherdog.com blog. This week, Breen is joined by BloodyElbow.com contributor John S. Nash.

Nova Uniao trainer and manager Andre Pederneiras spoke out about the UFC-Reebok deal in the media on Tuesday, saying that a potential union was a “rebellion” against the UFC and admonishing those who have criticized Zuffa's recent business decisions. Breen and Nash investigate the unusual nature of a trainer and manager, an advocate for the fighter, taking the side of the promotion, why it is more likely to happen in MMA and the unique-but-changing relationship between fighters, managers and promoters within the sport.

Breen and Nash also look at what MMA managers will look like in the near future (if they exist), the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act, the difficulties of enforcing that legislation in the MMA environment and how boxing's foremost power broker, Al Haymon, has made his riches and reputation by openly flaunting loopholes in the Ali Act as an “advisor.”
