The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas will play host to its first Strikeforce event on Saturday, as Strikeforce “Rockhold vs. Jardine” touches down in Sin City.
In the headliner, once-beaten middleweight champion Luke Rockhold defends his 185-pound crown for the first time, as he collides with longtime UFC veteran and “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 2 alum Keith Jardine. The event, which airs at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime, will also feature a middleweight matchup pairing Robbie Lawler with Adlan Amagov, a light heavyweight duel pitting former Strikeforce titleholder Muhammed Lawal against the undefeated Lorenz Larkin and a pair of welterweight scraps, as Tyron Woodley collides with Jordan Mein and Tarec Saffiedine squares off with Tyler Stinson.
Erected in 1995, The Joint seats 4,000 fans and sits adjacent to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino resort. Situated on 26 acres, the complex underwent a $750 million expansion in 2010. The property features the 11-story Hard Rock Hotel tower with 640 rooms, the 17-story Paradise Tower with 490 rooms, eight spa villas, seven penthouse suites and 72,000 square feet of casino space.
The Joint is no stranger to professional MMA, as it hosted 11 World Extreme Cagefighting events, including WEC 42, which featured Brian Bowles’ upset of then bantamweight champion Miguel Torres. Top Rank Boxing (Jan. 13), Cedric The Entertainer (Jan. 14) and the 2012 Adult Video News Awards Show (Jan. 21) will follow Strikeforce into the venue.
