HBO Boxing PPV Weigh-in Results: Sergey Kovalev, Andre Ward Cleared for Super Bout

The sport of boxing continues its trend of making major fights that matter the most and on Saturday, arguably the best possible matchup will take place in Las Vegas. Undefeated world champions Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward are both in their physical prime and will lock horns in the main event of HBO Championship Boxing on pay-per-view (current odds).

Dubbed “Pound for Pound” because both Kovalev and Ward are considered within the top three or four on virtually every boxing expert’s P4P list, it’s the type of showdown that would have either never happened years ago or would have taken years to make. But with reigning WBA, IBF and WBO light heavyweight champion Kovalev (30-0-1, 26 KOs) demanding to fight the best possible opponents and Ward, one the greatest super middleweight of this generation now campaigning at 175 pounds, it’s a boxing fan’s dream.

The final hurdle was cleared on Friday as both elite combatants made weight at the official weigh-ins. Ward, a gold medalist at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, was the first to climb aboard the scale and “S.O.G.” nailed it; Ward (30-0, 15 KOs) officially came in at 175 pounds. “Krusher” was equally on point as the Russian knockout artist also weighed in at 175 pounds.

The action takes place at the glorious new T-Mobile Arena and will be televised live on pay-per-view beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
