Greg Jackson, on “The Savage Dog Show,” responding to whether he found any satisfaction in Carlos Condit finishing Dan Hardy, who had joined some critics in accusing Jackson of encouraging his fighters to play it safe rather than finish opponents:
“I was just proud that Carlos fought and won. Dan’s … just trying to stir the pot. Anybody that even takes that kind of thought seriously really isn’t a fan of MMA. If a fight or two gets boring, that just happens in MMA in the hundreds and hundreds of fights. … Almost every single one of our guys in their last fight or two either got Submission of the Night or Fight of the Night or Knockout of the Night. Anybody that’s still driving that poor tired truck needs to actually become a fan of MMA and figure it out. It bothers me still when people accuse me … because it doesn’t make any logical sense to me. The safest way out of a fight is to finish a fight and then you don’t get finished yourself. That seems pretty logical. Anyway, yeah, it was satisfying to have somebody that was -- I understand Dan was just doing it for the show, but still to get finished in the first round was, I guess, a nail in the coffin of that argument. But at the end of the day, I actually like Dan. He’s a good guy, and I was just happy that Carlos got the win.”
