Glory 31: Amsterdam Weigh-in Results: Van Roosmalen, Sittichai on Point
Glory, the world’s premier kickboxing promotion, will return to the
Mecca of the sport on Saturday. Glory 31: Amsterdam goes down from
inside the RAI Amsterdam in the Netherlands, with Robin
Van Roosmalen defending his lightweight champion against muay
Thai superstar Sittichai Sitsongpeenong in the main event.
At Friday’s weigh-ins, all of the fighters on both the Glory 31 main card and those competing on the SuperFight Series undercard were able to make weight, green lighting the event. Aside from the lightweight title tilt, the marquee will feature a one-night four-man welterweight contender tournament. The SuperFight Series portion of the event will be headlined by an expected thrilling battle between Zack Mwekassa and Mourad Bouzidi
At the scales, Sitsongpeenong, who lost a highly controversial
decision to the reigning champion last year at Glory 25, tipped the
scale at 153.2 pounds, looking as ready as ever for his coveted
rematch. Van Roosmalen, meanwhile, officially clocked in at 152.1
pounds and expects to go 2-0 against the former Lumpinee Stadium
champion.
Yoann Kongolo will take on Harut Grigorian in the first welterweight semifinal bout while Murthel Groenhart will oppose Karim Benmansour in the other. All four men came in on point as well, clearing the way for what could be a grueling night.
Mwekassa also checked in perfectly; he weighed in at 206.4 pounds. Bouzidi was equally on the money as he came in at 207.9 pounds.
