Tonon, one of the world’s best grapplers, already racked up two wins at Metamoris to go along with two world titles at the Pan-Ams and World Championships, is a standout at ADCC. The Tom DeBlass black belt is 2-0 in his Polaris career, having submitted Marcin Held via heel hook at Polaris 1 and then replicated the feat against Japanese world champion Masakazu Imanari at Polaris 2.
Tonon is looking to add to his resume against “Toquinho,” who has 10 combined leg and foot lock submissions in his MMA career. The Brazilian made it to the finals of his weight class at ADCC 2011, having submitted everybody he faced via leg lock before losing to Andre Galvao via points in the gold medal match.
Also slated for Polaris 3 will be Gianni Grippo taking on Bruno Frazatto and Joao Miyao grappling against Yukinori Sasa. Many more matches will be announced soon, which will be streamed live on Polaris-pro.org.
