Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira may have lost to Vladimir Matyushenko at UFC 122 on Nov. 13, but he has not lost his job.

According to Tatame, the Brazilian light heavyweight will receive a chance to redeem himself after being dominated by “The Janitor” at the Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany, in his UFC debut. Tatame’s report on Friday also stated that “Cacareco,” at the promotion’s suggestion, would likely drop down to middleweight for his next bout.

Prior to losing to Matyushenko, Ferreira was on a seven-fight winning streak. The Chute Boxe Academy product began his career back in 1998, going 8-1 in his first nine bouts before dropping four straight fights. After that skid, the Brazilian lost only once in his next 11 fights before running into Matyushenko.

Early in his career, Ferreira fought multiple bouts for the now-defunct World Vale Tudo Championship, where he defeated notable contemporaries Heath Herring and Bob Schrijber. A submission specialist, Ferreira holds 17 of his 18 career victories by tapout; he has never knocked out an opponent. His lone decision victory came at the expense of Herring at WVC 8 in 1999.
