Unbeaten junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford will return to the ring on Oct. 24 to defend his title against Dierry Jean, Top Rank announced on Thursday. Crawford will put his WBO 140-pound title on the line inside the CenturyLink Center in the Bud Lite Zone in Omaha, Neb., with HBO televising the action.
Jean (29-1, 20 KOs) will get a second crack at a world title when he climbs through the ropes to take on Crawford. He previously challenged Lamont Peterson for the IBF super lightweight strap in January 2014, but he lost a competitive 12-round decision. Since that loss, the Montreal-based Haitian has won four straight, three by knockout.
HBO will televise the bout, airing the event live starting at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT. A co-featured bout and full undercard will be announced soon.
