For the third time since 2012, Mike Alvarado and Brandon Rios will compete against one another inside the boxing ring.
Rios, who holds a professional record of 32-2-1, with 23 knockouts, will look to close the book on his trilogy with Alvarado. Rios finished the Colorado native in the seventh round of their first meeting in 2012, before dropping the immediate rematch via unanimous decision for the interim WBO world light welterweight title. Since then, “Bam Bam” was defeated by Manny Pacquiao, before bouncing back and beating Diego Gabriel Chavez in August.
Alvarado, (34-3, 23 KO’s), has dropped his last two fights since last competing against Rios. The 34-year-old lost to Ruslan Provodnikov via referee technical decision, then dropped a unanimous decision to Juan Manuel Marquez in May. “Mile High” will be competing for the 10th time in his home state of Colorado.
