Boxing News: Miguel Cotto Signs With Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports
Going forward, middleweight boxing champion Miguel Cotto will be
represented by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports.
The relatively new boxing promoter made the announcement on Thursday. The specifics of the deal are unknown, but it’s said to be a multi-fight, multi-year deal.
Cotto, who has been represented by Top Rank Promotions for all but two of his 43 professional bouts, will likely return to action on June 6 in New York. No opponent has been named.
The 34-year-old is the second high-profile signing made by Roc Nation. In January, the promoter also signed super middleweight champion Andre Ward.
Two of Cotto’s four losses have come against Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Most recently, the Puerto Rican fighter has Delvin Rodriguez and Sergio Gabriel Martinez. Cotto competed only once in 2013 and 2014.
