Tims has been announced as the first official participant in
Bellator’s upcoming season three bantamweight tournament, the
promotion confirmed on Friday. Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney first
referenced the 135-pound tournament on Thursday in Kansas City,
Mo.
Tims (9-2-1) of Independence, Mo., earned his spot in the bracket with a hard-fought unanimous decision win against Brian Davidson at Bellator 16. Season three will debut on Aug. 12.
“Danny’s win over Brian Davidson included some great back-and-forth action; it was probably the night’s best all-around fight,” said Rebney in a press release. “With his win, Danny earned a spot in an eight-man field that already has some hugely talented bantamweights locked in. We will be announcing more of them in the coming weeks.”
While not televised live, the Tims-Davidson bout is up for view at Bellator.com.
