The Ultimate Fighting Championship fed its fans Ortiz-Shamrock for the first time at UFC 40. There, Ortiz tortured his bitter rival with an extended beating and pummeled him to such an extent that Shamrock was barely recognizable by the time his corner threw in the towel after the third round.
The UFC went on to squeeze the Ortiz-Shamrock turnip two more times. Ortiz blew away “The World’s Most Dangerous Man” in 78 seconds at UFC 61. However, Shamrock complained about a premature stoppage by referee Herb Dean, leading Zuffa to book a third match between the two.
They met again on Oct. 10, 2006 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Ortiz delivered an easy takedown, settled in Shamrock’s guard and ripped into him with punches until he was unconscious. The end came 2:23 into round one.
