European heavyweights sort things out in this one. Part of this
first wave of Slovakian fighters making their way to the UFC, Buday
falls under the category of being effective even though his style
is not particularly pretty. Needing to cut weight to make the
heavyweight limit, “Badys” takes advantage of his size with a
smothering approach. He will sometimes eat some damage in the name
of outlasting his opponents, but Buday typically finds a way to
exhaust them in close quarters, often ending things with either
some clinch strikes or a submission. After a successful debut over
Chris
Barnett in April, Buday looks to keep his momentum going
against a UFC newcomer and fellow Dana White’s Contender Series
alum in Brzeski. Poland’s Brzeski has been a frustrating talent
thus far. While he has been successful enough to make it to this
point, it does feel like things should click much more cleanly for
“The Bull.” Brzeski often looks impressive to start as a fast
striker, but his fights tend to devolve into messy affairs once his
opponent is able to close ranks and get things going with takedowns
or in the clinch. Brzeski can still hold his own in those
departments, but by then, things feel like a constant struggle.
That could still be the case in this assignment, but Buday looks to
be Brzeski’s best opponent to date. Plus, he is quite durable,
suggesting the Slovakian can win a messy grind without giving
Brzeski the opportunity to turn around the fight. The pick is Buday
via decision.
