Covington has earned the ire of several fighters with his trash talk over the years, even instigating former close friend Jorge Masvidal enough to sucker punch him outside a Miami steakhouse following their fight at UFC 272.

Page, who made hisUltimate Fighting Championship debut last month, is a lifelong martial artist and is principally against Covington’s unhinged trash talk.

“Venom” recently voiced his dislike for Covington while also expressing interest in a potential clash.

“I hate this guy,” Page said on a recent episode of UFC Day Off. “I’m going to be happy to kick this guy in the face… I find him fake. He just doesn’t seem like a nice guy with all the stuff that came out last time about what fighters should and shouldn’t be allowed to talk about with regards to people. People are going deep now, talking about each other’s wives, and moms and dads, and he was very much into it. I just didn’t like that. I come from like a martial arts background, so that’s not the way we do things. I think he’s trying too hard to stay relevant. As much as we are a tough sport, we want to show that we’re true sportsmen… Oh yeah, 100% [I would like to fight him].”

Covington is coming off a lopsided unanimous decision loss against Leon Edwards in a welterweight title bout at UFC 296 in December 2023. While Covington is 2-2 in his last four, neither of the fighters he defeated during that stretch are in the promotion anymore.

Meanwhile, Page completely outclassed Kevin Holland on the feet to earn a unanimous decision win in his promotional debut at UFC 299 last month. The Brit will certainly be one of the top stars on the UFC’s radar for the upcoming UFC 304 card scheduled to go down in Manchester on July 27. However, Page claims there is a lack of opponents, while also alluding to fighters potentially avoiding a matchup with him.

“I feel fresh after my last fight, more than willing to go,” he said. “I think there is definitely a want for me to be on that card, it’s just who’s ready? It seems that everyone has got hamstring issues and stuff all of a sudden. So it just seems like we’re trying to get an opponent and nobody seems to be ready.”
