Marcin Tybura and Shamil Abdurakhimov will look to build momentum when they grace UFC Fight Night 149. Both fighters are eager to improve their rankings so expect nothing less than fireworks when they collide on April 20 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
UFC record
Tybura has had seven fights in the UFC, with a record of 4-3. His three losses were dealt by Timothy Johnson and perennial contenders Derrick Lewis and Fabricio Werdum. His shining moment was a head kick KO of Viktor Pesta at UFC Fight Night 92, as well as a decision victory over former champion Andrei Arlovski. Abdurakhimov, who also has a decision win over Arlovski, has had six fights in the UFC. He has two losses, which like Tybura, were against Johnson and Lewis.
Wins by knockout
The heavyweight division is loaded with heavy-hitters, and Tybura and Abdurakhimov are no exception. Abdurakhimov prides of eight wins by KO or TKO, and his victims include Gabriel Garcia, Ante Maljkovic, Vitalii Yalovenko, Roman Savochka, Shamil Abdulmuslimov, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, Marcos Oliveira and Chase Sherman. Tybura, on the other hand, has starched seven opponents, namely Krystian Kopytowski, Denis Komkin, Chaban Ka, Maro Perak, Ante Delija, Viktor Pesta, and Luis Henrique.
Wins by submission
Tybura and Abdurakhimov are well-rounded fighters who have as much submission savvy as they have power in their fists. Between the two, it’s Tybura who has more wins by tapout. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt has submitted six opponents, namely Robert Marcok, Stanisław Ślusakowicz, Andrzej Kosecki, Konstantin Gluhov, Damian Grabowski and Denis Smoldarev. Abdurakhimov has four submission victories at the expense of Vladimir Kuchenko, Roman Mirzoyan, Mikhail Rutskiv and Jerry Otto.
Striking accuracy
There isn’t much difference between Tybura and Abdurakhimov in terms of striking accuracy, at least in the UFC. The former has landed 369 out of the 702 significant strikes he threw in UFC competition, making for a 53 percent striking accuracy. His highest output was against Fabricio Werdum at 127. As for Abdurakhimov, landing 171 significant strikes out of 374 attempts afforded him a 46 percent striking accuracy. He tallied 64 against Anthony Hamilton, which stands as his highest output.
Takedown accuracy
Tybura tramples Abdurakhimov in the takedown department, completing 11 out of his 18 attempts inside the Octagon, which makes for a 61 percent accuracy. His highest output in a single fight was five against Stefan Struve. Meanwhile, Abdurakhimov holds a 27 percent takedown accuracy, making five out of 26 attempts in UFC competition.
Common opponents
Tybura and Abdurakhimov both lost to Lewis and Johnson. At the same time, they hold a victory over Arlovski. For Tybura, his strong wrestling was key to beating the former UFC champion. He landed two takedowns and controlled Arlovski, landing ground strikes when the opportunity presented itself. Abdurakhimov’s conquest of Arlovski wasn’t quite as impressive, and the fight had no significant activity that would have highlighted their showdown.
