While Brenneman has made his name as a ground-and-pound fighter, he looks far from being a dominant wrestler, especially when compared to the takedown machines populating the welterweight division. The disparity in skill will become painfully obvious in this fight, as High’s superior wrestling technique and physical ability will be too much for Brenneman.
The biggest flaw in Brenneman’s game is that he has been so one-dimensional. When his wrestling cannot win the day, he suddenly becomes a sub-standard fighter. While High looks every bit as limited a fighter, he will win most wrestling matches he enters, and a wrestling match is exactly what this fight will become.
The Bottom Line: High will outwrestle Brenneman, and his underappreciated Brazilian jiu-jitsu skills will net him a dominant UFC debut. Brenneman has shown himself as a quality fighter on the local circuits, but this represents a different world for him, and he just does not have the experience to cut it at this level.
