This Day in MMA History: Dec. 1

On Dec. 1, 2017, Bellator MMA was in Thackerville, Oklahoma, for Bellator 189.

In the main event, Julia Budd was defending her featherweight title against Arlene Blencowe in a rematch of their Bellator 162 bout, where Budd won by majority decision. The scrap was another close one but the champ edged out a split decision to defend the belt for the first time.

Also on the main card, Rafael Lovato Jr. beat Chris Honeycutt by decision, Chidi Njoukani got a decision win over Hisaki Kato and David Rickles earned a decision win over Adam Piccolotti.

On the prelims, there were a handful of notable performances, including Sam Silicia edging out a win over Marcos Galvao, Julianna Velasquez submitting Na Liang, Mandel Nallo TKO’ing Alec Williams in 18 seconds and Gaston Bolans knocking out Ricky Guttierez in 73 seconds.
