“That was a little disappointing for my first fight (in W-1),” said Kang. “I was bummed out that I couldn’t fight because of my injury, but I was one hundred percent for this fight. I had a great training camp and am looking forward to fighting more and more for W-1.”
With one win in the books, Kang looks to continue on his road to redemption in less than a month’s time.
“My next fight is actually one month from now, July 18 in Impact FC in Australia against Paulo Filho.”
Toronto’s Adrian Wooley was successful in the first defense of his W-1 bantamweight title with a fourth-round technical knockout over Randy Spence. Wooley demonstrated vastly improved standup and silenced many critics in attendance.
"There’s a lot of typewriter heroes out there that hide behind the monitors and talk a whole lot of s--t ,” said Woodley. “You know what, I want to fight, I want to bang, I want to slug it out. I know I’ve got arms like an alligator but I still had to punch him. That was my game plan from start to finish.”
Spence had no answer for the punches of the shorter, compact champion and Wooley bullied him around the cage landing clean hard shots.
“I had a great fight with Randy and he’s one tough kid,” said Wooley. “Randy Spence is one tough SOB, you don’t come from [Cesar Gracie’s] camp and not be a tough guy and not ready to scrap.”
Following some time off after suffering back-to-back losses for the first time in his nine-year career, Ivan Menjivar returned to action after a four-year hiatus. “The Pride of El Salvador” showed little signs of rust in his promotional debut with a submission win over Aaron Miller. The end came early after Menjivar missed with a spinning back-fist and found the Quebec on the ground. Miller dove in with reckless abandon and right into a fight-ending triangle choke.
