Main Events and HBO on Tuesday announced the addition of Dmitry Mikhaylenko versus Ray Robinson to the ballyhooed HBO World Championship Boxing telecast on Jan. 30. Anchored by a light heavyweight world championship rematch between unbeaten titlist Sergey Kovalev and Jean Pascal, the card will be held at Bell Centre in Montreal.
“I am excited to be on HBO and back in Canada,” Mikhaylenko said in a statement. “This is a big fight for me; I am looking to get my name in the hunt at the top of the welterweight division. I am also excited to be opening for my countryman, Sergey Kovalev. I hope to put on a great show.”
Robinson (20-2, 9 KOs) has won nine in a row since losing back-to-back battles, one of which was to former 147-pound world champ Shawn Porter. The Philly fighter last competed in April, when he edged Sherzodbek Alimjanov via 10-round unanimous decision.
The event will be televised live on HBO beginning at 9:45 p.m. ET/6:45 p.m. PT.
