Rewind: John Dodson

On Jan. 25, flyweight MMA hits network television for the first time on FOX. And the face of it will not just be champion Demetrious Johnson, but equal parts his zany challenger, John Dodson. A decade ago, Dodson was working at a Chuck E. Cheese and pursuing a criminal justice degree. Today, his wide smile, cackle, and aerial in-cage stylings embody what one thinks of when he considers the essence of 125-pound fighting. Saturday, Dodson gets the chance to recast his quirks as championship qualities and fly the flag as flyweight champion before a national primetime audience.
