If Johnny Eblen isn’t the world’s best middleweight, he’s at least part of the conversation.

The American Top Team product kept his momentum going at Bellator 299, knocking out Fabian Edwards with vicious elbows on the canvas 21 seconds into the third round of their headlining encounter at 3Arena in Dublin on Saturday. “Diamond Hands” is now 14-0 as a professional and has three victories in championship bouts to his credit. While an argument can be made that Eblen deserves to be higher, he checks in at No. 6 in Sherdog’s latest middleweight rankings.

Meanwhile, Mateusz Gamrot certainly didn’t get to make the statement he intended when Rafael Fiziev suffered a knee injury 2:03 into the second round of the lightweight main event at UFC Fight Night 228. However, “Gamer” isn’t going to give the victory back, either. With wins in six of his last seven promotional appearances, the former KSW two-division champion climbs to No. 6 at 155 pounds and remains a very relevant player in the championship discussion going forward.

In other action, Sara Collins moves up to No. 8 at women’s featherweight following a split-decision triumph against Sinead Kavanagh at Bellator 299, while Montserrat Rendon makes her debut on the women’s bantamweight bubble after a victory over the previously 15th-ranked Tamires Vidal at UFC Fight Night 228. Meanwhile, No. 9 strawweight Marina Rodriguez and No. 13 featherweight Bryce Mitchell both hold serve following their respective victories at the UFC Apex on Saturday night.
