Rafael Fiziev waited until the championship rounds to make a statement.

Fighting in his first main event in the sport’s largest organization, the Tiger Muay Thai stalwart made it a night to remember, knocking out Rafael dos Anjos 18 seconds into the fifth round of their UFC on ESPN 39 showdown at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday. While Fiziev was likely on his way to a decision victory anyway, the finish was the type of standout moment “Ataman” needed against a former champion in a crowed lightweight division.

Following his sixth consecutive triumph — currently the fourth-longest active winning streak at 155 pounds — Fiziev climbs to the No. 7 spot in Sherdog’s latest divisional rankings. Dos Anjos, meanwhile, sees his hopes of another championship run extinguished and falls to the 9th spot in the process.
