(PRESS RELEASE) -- On Saturday night, fight fans are in for a treat when V3Fights bantamweight champion, Amberlynn Orr, puts her title on the line against Auttumn Norton. Orr is currently 7-1 and trains at Fisher’s Bang Gym. She was the first female to ever fight inside of the V3 cage, was the first women’s champion with the promotion, and was the first female two hold two V3 titles. We caught up with ALO and spoke to her about her MMA career and upcoming fight.

How did you get started in MMA?

I started my Amateur MMA career in December 2010 as a way to push myself to a higher fitness level. Having been a manager and trainer at a few local gyms, I no longer felt challenged, took the advice of a co-worker who trained at Fisher’s Bang Gym, and found an appreciation for the sport. Now, MMA has become a habit and a lifestyle for me.

How does it feel to be considered one of the top female amateurs in the world?

Ha…the world? You know… I love the support from all of my friends, family, and all of the fans that follow me. I am flattered that so many people want to keep up with my career and my progress. It means so much that people are inspired by me and by what I do, and they come to me for advice about how to make lifestyle changes that will make them healthier. As far as being labeled one of the top female ammy’s in the world…I didn’t realize that I was! I know that regionally, I am up there in rank, and I have followers from literally every corner of the globe, but I really don’t put much thought into my ammy ranking. As an ammy, I am learning and training, trying to become a professional level athlete. When I reach that level, rank will become more relevant but right now, I am just a small fish in a big pond. When I turn pro…I want to be one of the sharks or whales.

What are your thoughts on this upcoming fight and your opponent, Auttumn Norton?

In all honesty…I don’t think too much about it. I just do what I always do. I work, I train, I eat and sleep and then do it all over again. I stepped up my level of training when Thomas Vasquez and I started preparing for his Bellator debut and I haven’t let up. I just prepare to be ready for anything and I stay prepared. Fights are a way for me to gage my progress. I don’t know too much about Auttumn Norton, other than she has a couple of straps and that she is supposed to be the toughest opponent they could find for me. I am a pretty well-rounded fighter and have won just about every way possible, so being able to handle myself on the ground, or standing up, is probably what I would consider my greatest advantage in this fight. I am comfortable wherever the fight goes.

What is your biggest strength as a fighter?

My greatest strength would have to be my focus, I guess. I don’t let the adrenaline or a situation get to me. My wheels are constantly turning when I am fighting and I am always looking for “that opportunity” and thinking one move ahead.
