Striegl and Cali Impress at PXC 34.

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Manila, Philippines- Before a raucous crowd at the storied Araneta Arena, Pacific Xtreme Combat (PXC) reasserted its status as the premier talent generator for the Asia Pacific Region at PXC 34. On a card that was broadcast live on TV 5 in the Philippines and streamed globally on giant MMA website Sherdog.com, a crop of the best young mixed martial artists in the region impressed in 12 action packed fights. In the nights co main events two of PXC’s top stars both won impressively.

Undefeated featherweight Mark Striegl passed his toughest test to date by easily submitting Harris Sarmeinto, an accomplished veteran of over 60 professional fights. Striegl, who is a highly effective grappler, used a patented version of the shoulder lock to submit his opponent in the first round. After his victory Striegl set the stage for a huge fight in PXC when he called out Featherweight Champion Baby Joe Taimanglo who was sitting in the crowd.

PXC flyweight Champion Ale Cali retained his belt with a third round stoppage of Erwin Tagle. Cali, a former professional boxer, used classy footwork and smooth angles to confuse his opponent and set a pace that the older challenger couldn’t keep up with. Tagle was competitive early but faded badly in the third round. When he had trouble answering the bell for the fourth round referee “Big” John McCarthy stopped the fight.

PXC CEO EJ Calvo said after the event “ With more events and continued growth internationally, PXC is consistently producing the best MMA action in the Asia Pacific region and developing the best up and coming fighters. We saw two fighters signed to the UFC this year and it would be surprising if more don’t get the call soon as the UFC increases the focus on Asia. PXC 34 was epic! Great performance from the stars of Asia Pacific MMA and a couple of surprises from new talent. 2013 will be the biggest year yet.”
