(PRESS RELEASE) -- With just two fights remaining before the 2013 RMB 1,000,000 Super Fight, the Ranik Ultimate Fighting Federation (RUFF) is heading back to Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, China on Saturday, November 3 for RUFF 6.
RUFF 6, set for New Inner Mongolia Indoor Stadium, will be headlined by a pair of lightweights, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt Rodrigo Caporal and Muay Thai veteran Arthit Hanchana, both of whom are undefeated in the RUFF cage and coming off impressive finishes at RUFF 5.
Now 3-0 inside the RUFF promotion, Caporal silenced critics of his striking game by knocking out top Chinese prospect Wu HaoTian with a vicious right in the second round at RUFF 5. The added element of one-punch knockout power, combined with his vast repertoire of submissions and world-class grappling skills, has made Caporal the man to beat in the 70 kg division. But before he can fight for the 1-million RMB, he will have to square off with Hanchana.
A Thai fighter based in Guangzhou, Hanchana has been impressive in his two submission wins inside the RUFF cage, and has clearly demonstrated his mastery of multiple disciplines. Utilizing a significant height and reach advantage, he throws a wide range of strikes to keep opponents at a distance, before moving in for the submission. Hanchana counts Zhang LiPeng and HasiTieer TeerJiang among his victims, and is now poised to take on Caporal at RUFF 6.
In the co-main event, top flyweight contenders Liu PingYuan and Shang ZhiFa will face off to determine who is the tougher man at 57 kg.
Riding a three-fight win streak, Liu is coming off a split decision win over Zhang MeiXuan at RUFF 5, avenging an earlier loss at RUFF: Genesis. Liu, who fights out of Beijing’s Ao HaiLin MMA Club, is a multi-dimensional fighter with excellent boxing skills, who attempts submissions at a lightning-quick pace.
Undefeated under the RUFF banner, Shang ZhiFa has been the surprise of the flyweight division, using his wrestling prowess and aggression to out-point Liu LianJie at RUFF 5 and submit Amu RiJiRiGaLa at RUFF 4. A product of the LongYun MMA Club in Harbin, Shang is a well-rounded fighter who will see his toughest test to date when has goes head-to-head with Liu PingYuan.
Rounding out the co-main events, Wu ChengJie and Zhao EriDeMuTu will throw down in a must-win featherweight matchup. Both fighters are currently 1-0 in RUFF competition, and a win will propel one of these athletes one step closer to the 2013 Super Fight.
Zhao, a Sanda specialist with heavy hands took “Knockout of the Night” honors at RUFF 4, while Wu dominated at RUFF 5 with his ground-and-pound mastery, setting up what will surely be a fast-paced, hard-hitting affair.
The first ever government-sanctioned professional fighting organization in mainland China, RUFF promotes MMA in association with the Wushu Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China.
While the official RUFF 6 announcement, event date, and details are only being released publicly at this time, all fighters participating in RUFF 6 were informed of their matchups several weeks prior, and have been busy with training camps.
In 2013, RUFF, along with Los Angeles-based Mandt Bros. Productions, will present the RMB 1,000,000 Super Fight, a title event to crown China’s first MMA national champions in the flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight, and light heavyweight divisions.
Key sponsors Nike and Ducati are once again on board for RUFF 6, as is C.O.M.M.A.N.D.-certified Canadian referee Jerin Valel, who will return to oversee the event and the implementation of the unified rules, ensuring RUFF 6 will not only feature world-class competition, but also the highest level of officiating, fighter safety and integrity.
More on RUFF 6, including updated fight matchups and television broadcast information, to come.
