Nelson Returns on Feb. 13
Jan 13, 2010
(PRESS RELEASE) -- The 21 year old Icelandic Renzo Gracie black
belt, Gunnar Nelson, will be returning to MMA on February 13th at
the UK show BAMMA (British Association of MMA) in London. The young
welterweight, who went from BJJ blue to black in only three years,
upset the world at the ADCC 2009 in Barcelona by winning the much
heavier Jeff Monson and submitting Dave Avellan and taking 4th
place in the absolute division. Shortly after that he was awarded
his black belt by Renzo Gracie and illustrated his skills three
days later by taking the gold at Pan No-Gi.
Gunnar is undefeated in MMA but hasn’t fought MMA since September 2008 when he KO’ed Iran Mascarenhas. However he will without a doubt be looking for his 6th straight MMA win against his opponent, the Judo black belt Sam Elsdon, who is also undefeated in his MMA career and won an eight-man tournament last year.
