(PRESS RELEASE) -- Ft. Lauderdale, Florida (USA): Rising MMA management company Apex Sports Agency (ASA) announced today that the company has agreed to terms with MMA legend Din Thomas, and will now take over management of his career. The 36 year-old American Top Team product joins fellow UFC veteran Mike Ciesnolevicz as well as former Strikeforce competitor Lyle Beerbohm as recent additions to the growing ASA roster.
A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt with an impressive 25-8-0-1 record, “Dinyero” has garnered 21 of his wins via stoppage, including 14 by submission. He has faced some of the top lightweights in the world, including former UFC fighter Caol Uno, former UFC Lightweight/Welterweight Champion B.J. Penn, Pride veteran Luciano Azevedo, current UFC fighter Josh Neer, and former UFC title challenger Kenny Florian. Thomas also holds impressive wins over some of the best in the sport, including UFC/PRIDE vet and former DEEP Champion Dokonjonosuke Mishima, future Hall of Famer and former UFC Lightweight Champion Jens Pulver, former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Serra, current Bellator fighter Rich Clementi, and current UFC fighters Clay Guida and Jeremy Stephens.
He’s known as a slick submission specialist and freak athlete who isn’t afraid to stand and bang, and the “Man of 1001 Submissions” joins ASA having won six of his last nine fights dating back to 2006, which included a three-fight win streak in the UFC.
“I’m pretty excited to be working with Jason Chambers and his crew,” stated Thomas. “Besides being a good friend of mine, I've always respected Jason as a go-getter, and I think he has the ability to guide me in the right direction in this stage of my career.
“To those that question how much I have left, I believe I have a good run left in me. I need to be smart about where I choose to make that run. But I will leave that up to management. My goals now are just to prove that I can still win fights with skills and tactics.
“My other goal is to remain in the game broadcasting or in the entertainment side of this in some way. I don't want people to see me as a fighter turned broadcaster. I would like to showcase my talents as separate entities. Again, Jason Chambers has the ability and the resources to get me there.”
“I appreciate Apex for getting behind me and taking a chance on me. I've been involved in this game since the mid-90's and I still have plenty left to give. The night is still young,” concluded “Dinyero.”
