(PRESS RELEASE) -- MMA fans have waited for this announcements since KSW22 headliners were made official. For the last couple of weeks Paweł Nastula’s March 16th rival has been a mystery. KSW Federation as well as Nastula knew the name of the fighter, but before all papers had been signed, the information about him could not be released. As all the documents have been sent, we can finally reveal tha in his KSW debut Nastula will square off against experienced American Kevin Asplund.
The American is the more experienced fighter of the two as he has eighteen professional bouts to his record, which is over twice as more as Nastula. Out his fifteen wins, five came by way of knockout, six by submission and three by decision. It suggests that he will pose a threat for the Polish Judo Olympic Champion in every aspect of the MMA Game. - It will be my first time in Europe and the first time Poland. I will face the fighter, whom I watched competing in Judo at the Atlanta Olympic Games. It motivates me to train harder and I’m confident I’ll be victorious at KSW22 – Asplund says.
The thirty-seven-year-old has competed solely on the US soil so far, mostly for the Brutaal organization. In 2012 his skills were noticed by Bellator matchmakers and he received a chance to fight for the second best US promotion. In his debut he was matched against heavy-hitting Strikeforce veteran Brett Rogers and he did not hesitate to take the fight. After an entertaining battle, Asplund lost a technical knockout due to a severe cut on his face.
