(PRESS RELEASE) -- Atlantic City, NJ – With a following in New Jersey, Delaware and Virginia, Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) will make its long awaited debut in Pennsylvania on Friday, February 8, 2013 when Scott Heckman takes on Brett Martinez in bantamweight main event bout live from the Valley Forge Casino Resort located in King of Prussia, PA. With a deal to bring multiple events to the venue in 2013, it’s an exciting time for CFFC.
Scott Heckman (13-3) has won eight out of his last nine bouts and has finished his opponents in six of those victories. He is currently riding a five fight win streak and went undefeated in 2012. He hopes the winning streak continues when he takes on Martinez. “I’m really excited to be the main event for CFFC,” stated Heckman. As for my opponent, I can’t wait to show Brett Martinez why they call me the animal”. Heckman was a standout wrestler in college at Bloomsburg and East Stroudsburg and trains with the likes of Jim Miller and Dan Miller under the watchful eye of Mike Constantino.
In his professional career, Brett Martinez (5-0) has won his first five MMA bouts. In those five bouts, Martinez has finished all of his opponents except for his pro debut in 2008. Martinez has shown that he can win on the ground with submission and utilize his hands to earn a TKO victory. When the chance came to fight for CFFC and Heckman, Martinez couldn’t pass it up. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to be fighting for CFFC,” said the undefeated pro. “They’re one of the biggest fighting promotions on the east coast. Scott Heckman is a monster and he comes to fight. I like that about him. He has a very strong wrestling background and he gets better every fight, so this is a big step up for me”.
The co-main event will feature a pair of two undefeated fighters when Paul Felder (3-0) clashes with Ricky Nuno (1-0) in a lightweight battle. Felder made his pro debut with CFFC in 2011 with highlight reel knockout coming from a flying knee. Since that fight, Felder has won two fights in a row by TKO with his last fight just lasting a little over a minute. Nuno won his professional debut in December of 2012 with a TKO victory against Brad Mountain in the first round. Nuno went 4-1 in the amateur ranks and is the current teammate of Scott Heckman.
Also featured on the card is CFFC veteran, Evan Chmieleski (4-4) taking on South Carolina’s Christopher Cain (5-3). Chmeileski is coming off a dominant unanimous decision victory over Justin Dalton in November of 2012. With that victory, Chmeileski earned his first title of his professional career and has his eyes set on the coveted CFFC title. Cain will be standing in his way and has won three out of his last four fights. His only loss in that span was a five round close decision in a title bout.
The card will also feature PA’s William Algeo (1-1) in a featherweight bout. The rest of the card is compiled of the area’s best amateurs including Eddie Alvarez, Adrian Jimenez, Artem Imnadze, and the long awaited amateur debut of Orlando Cuevas.
