2.4 MILLION VIEWERS TUNE IN FOR COURT McGEE’S VICTORY

Jun 22, 2010

(PRESS RELEASE) -- 2.4 million viewers tuned in to witness Court McGee complete an unlikely and hard-fought journey from the abyss of drug abuse only a few years ago to being named “The Ultimate Fighter” on Saturday night. The 3-hour Spike TV telecast of the live “The Ultimate Fighter: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz” finale peaked at 11:30pm for the Court McGee-Kris McCray finale bout, won by McGee with a second round submission.

Fighting out of Orem, UT, Court McGee (11-1) was awarded a six-figure contract by Dana White, President of The Ultimate Fighting Championship®, the preeminent mixed martial arts organization in the world.

The UFC fight card drew more young men in the hard-to-reach demographic of Men 18-34 than anything else on television on Saturday, cable or broadcast, even besting ESPN’s well-publicized World Cup coverage.

Overall, the entire Spike TV telecast averaged a 1.4 household rating, a 1.9 in M18-49, a 2.3 in M18-34, and an average audience of 2 million viewers.

Emanating from The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, viewership for the UFC fight card rose throughout the night, as 2.3 million viewers tuned at 11:00pm for Matt Hamill and Keith Jardine’s epic three-round war in the night’s co-feature.
