Sapp vs. Lashley Play-by-Play

Sherdog.com reports live from Biloxi, Miss., with play-by-play of “Ultimate Chaos,” which is headlined by Bobby Lashley vs. Bob Sapp. Play-by-play will begin with the main card at 9 p.m. ET.

TJ De Santis reports that the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum is half full as the main card is about to begin. Bobby Lashley is tucked into a corner at the end of press row, watching the fights. No one seems to notice him.

James Orso vs. Danny Abbadi
Round 1
Abbadi puts some knees into Orso's midsection to begin the fight but gets backed into the cage. They break with a minute gone. Back to the center of the cage. Orso lands a right. Orso misses a left hook. Abbadi is inclined to kick while Orso favors punching. After missing a punch, Orso follows the strike in for a takedown. The fight is in Abbadi's guard. Orso works calmly from the top, going to the body and then high with an elbow. Abbadi is keeping his guard closed. Orso postures up and punches, then stands before stepping back into Abbadi's guard. He doesn't look interested in passing, and Abbadi isn't especially aggressive when it comes to getting back to his feet.

Round 2
Abbadi glances Orso with a head kick. In response, Orso pushes Abbadi back into the cage. Abbadi punches off the break, and they return to the center. Orso misses with a wild left hook but gets in deep with a double-leg takedown. Abbadi's takedown defense is lacking, and he goes to his back. Orso begins working from half guard. The action slows down significantly. Abbadi reverses, but Orso grabs a guillotine that doesn't look especially tight. Both fighters look tired. Orso tries to dig for a kimura. The ref stands both fighters. After an exchange, they lock up again. Abbadi puts Orso on his back while Orso is trying another kimura.

Round 3
Orso counters a kick with a big right hand. Orso shoots, and Abbadi slaps on a tight guillotine and jumps to guard. Orso strains some but escapes. The fight is in Abbadi's guard. Orso sits up and punches. The fight slows again. Abbadi doesn't seem to have a plan for getting back to his feet. Orso punches to his body. He's not doing much damage, but he is scoring points. Orso closes out the fight punching from the top.

Brandon Harder vs. John Harris
Round 1
Harris comes out swinging. Harder locks him up to slow him down. Harris throws some short elbows in the clinch. Harder shoots but can't get his opponent down. Harris lands with some rights after fighting off the takedown, but Harder finally does finish a takedown. Harder then lets him up and gets hit with another right. They tie up again against the cage. On a break, they go toe to toe with neither landing. Now Harder begins to land. Both fighters are tired and brawling. Harris looks exhausted -- he's punched himself out -- and he wavers after Harder connects with several punches. Harder takes control until they go back to the clinch, where Harris knees him to the body. Harris gets a takedown but also gets caught in a guillotine. He escapes and lands a right inside Harder's guard, then gives up his back briefly to close the round.

Brandon Harder vs. John Harris.
Round 2
Harder misses a strike but tackles Harris to the mat. They're not there long before Harris threatens with an armbar that sets up a scramble. Harris then puts Harder on the mat. Harris passes to side control but can't keep it. Both men are sluggish, but they're not stopping. Harris moves into mount. His arms looks heavy, but he elbows Harder in the face. His punches don't seem to get through, but his elbows are scoring points. Harder tries to wrap him up from the bottom. Harder also tries to punch from the bottom. With 1:20 remaining, Harder reverses and crawls into mount. Harris is exhausted. Harder rains down punches, then applies an arm-triangle and slides into side mount, where he finishes the choke at 4:31.

Tom Atencio vs. Randy Hedderick
Round 1
Atencio closes the distance off a kick and pushes Hedderick into the cage. Hedderick wraps his hands around Atencio's neck. They break, and Hedderick drills Atencio with two right hands. Atencio wobbles and gets dropped with another right. Atencio gets to his feet. He covers up while Hedderick tees off with knees and punches. The fight is all Hedderick so far. They lock up for a breather, then break. A kick from Atencio trips Hedderick, but Hedderick stands. Atencio flurries but doesn't land. They tie up again. After they break, Atencio throws a spinning back fist and takes a kick for it. Hedderick moves to side mount, but Atencio works to his feet. Hedderick again controls the clinch with knees.

Atencio came back strong.
Round 2
Atencio flails to begin the second, but Hedderick is much more effective by grabbing the Thai plum and kneeing Atencio. Atencio scores his best move of the fight by sweeping the leg and grounding Hedderick. Hedderick, however, quickly gets back to the feet. Atencio lands a kick to the leg. Atencio also counters a kick with a straight right. Hedderick shoots, and Atencio sprawls well and moves to Hedderick's back. He does not have hooks in. Trying to put hooks in, he gets reversed. Hedderick takes side mount briefly before Atencio regains half guard, then guard. Atencio kicks Hedderick away and stands. Atencio gets a takedown and punches from the top to close the round. Hedderick goes back to his corner with a busted nose.

Hedderick cannot continue, and Atencio is declared the winner.

Spiritwolf shocked Cooper.


Brett Cooper vs. Waachiim Spiritwolf
Round 1
Spiritwolf jabs and closes the distance. Cooper gets underhooks. They break, and Spiritwolf throws two lefts that don't land and clinches again. Cooper again gets underhooks. They break. Cooper kicks to the inside of the leg. Spiritwolf rushes in for a tie-up. They trade knees and break. Cooper takes the center of the cage. He misses with uppercuts as Spiritwolf rushes in. Spiritwolf lands a glancing left hook while pursuing Cooper. Neither lands anything solid. 1:20 to go in the round. Cooper jumps in with a flying knee and Spiritwolf counters with a right. Neither connects, and both fire another right, and this time Spiritwolf plants Cooper. Spiritwolf follows up with punches on the ground until the fight is stopped at 3:41.

Chris Horodecki made quick
work of William Sriyapai.
Chris Horodecki vs. William Sriyapai
Round 1
Sriyapai kicks to the inside of the leg. Horodecki answers to the body with a kick. Horodecki follows a right hand in and takes Sriyapai down. With ease Horodecki takes Sriyapai's back. Sriyapai defends the choke, but Horodecki flattens him out momentarily and punches. Sriyapai rolls. Horodecki stays on his back, and Sriyapai grabs Horodecki's wrist to defend. Horodecki peppers his opponent with punches and finally slips his forearm under Sriyapai's chin for the rear-naked choke. Sriyapai taps at 4:02.




Mark Kergosien vs. Javier Vazquez
Round 1
Kergosien is a last-minute replacement for Din Thomas. He swings and tackles Vazquez against the cage. Vazquez stays calm, though, and applies a guillotine, rolls Kergosien and taps him at 59 seconds. That's it.

Colin McKee vs. Lance Thompson
Round 1
McKee clinches immediately. Takes him about a minute to get Thompson down. He tries to take Thompson's back, but Thompson reverses, then gets to his feet. McKee sprawls on a bad shot, but Thompson shoots again and takes him down. Thompson passes to full mount but only briefly before McKee gets his guard back. Thompson punches from the top, tries to pass but lets McKee to his feet. They clinch, and McKee works Thompson to the ground. Thompson covers up and lets McKee work from his back, where he punches lightly until Thompson taps. It's a strange finish at 4:16.

Yvel destroyed Rizzo.
Gilbert Yvel vs. Pedro Rizzo
Round 1
Yvel starts with a left kick that Rizzo blocks. Yvel kicks again, and Rizzo trips him to the ground. The fight is in Yvel's guard. Rizzo elbows from the top and mixes in some left hands. Yvel kicks him away, stands and chases Rizzo around the cage swinging wildly. Rizzo retreats, but he catches a left hook and a glancing head kick. He goes to the ground, and Yvel absolutely pummels him with a series of full-power right hands to the jaw that leave Rizzo lying flat. The time is 2:10. Rizzo walks out on his own power.

The in-ring interviewer compliments Yvel and asks where he goes from here. Yvel says to the hotel. Then Yvel says he'll fight Paul Buentello next in Affliction.

Bobby Lashley easily
pounded out Bob Sapp.
Bobby Lashley vs. Bob Sapp
Round 1
Lashley shoots a double-leg immediately and takes Sapp down. He pounds on Sapp from Sapp's open guard. Lashley throws short elbows and moves into half guard. He could easily pass but stays in half guard and punches. No major blows have gotten through yet. Two minutes into the round. Lashley is scoring points, and Sapp has made no effort to get up. A big right hand from Lashley gets through. Lashley opens up with more rights, and Sapp turns away and taps. The ref misses the tap, and Lashley punches some more until the next tap is seen at 3:17.
